Judge Taylor has served as a Court of Appeals judge since he was first elected in November 2003. He was the court's Chief Judge for two years, from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2012, and is the only judge from Daviess County to have ever served in that position. He is currently the 2nd longest tenured judge on the Court.
He is currently a member of the Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission, which he has served on since 2016.
Judge Taylor is a past president of the Daviess County Bar Association. In 2016, he was awarded the Joseph Hamilton Daviess Award by the Bar Association for outstanding public service to the legal profession and his community.
He has been a member of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce for 30 years. Judge Taylor is a past president of the Owensboro Kiwanis Club and has been a member for 36 years. He has served on the Girls Inc. Advisory Board of Trustees for 29 years.
